Ajman Fish Market: the source
Almost every kitchen on this list either sources from Ajman Fish Market or quietly admires the people who do. The market sits along Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Al Maktoum Street next to the Central Bus Station on the Corniche side. Boats unload before dawn. By 7am the stalls are stacked with hammour, kingfish, sultan ibrahim, jumbo prawns, blue crabs and squid. The lively daily auction kicks off at 6pm. Opening hours are 7am to 1.30pm and 5pm to 10pm.
You can buy your own catch, pay the cleaning station a small fee for descaling and filleting, then take it home or hand it to one of the restaurants above that will cook it for you. It is the most local thing you can do for dinner in Ajman.
